Hugo Chavez Arming Groups against Opposition
By Sher Zieve – The opposition leader to Venezuelan strongman Hugo Chavez, Manuel Rosales, said that Chavez has armed groups to attack him and his supporters. Last week, Rosales accused armed Chavez supporters of attacking his entourage.
Rosales, current governor of the state of Zulia, said that he had already been ambushed and attacked three times by Chavez supporters. Morales was also attacked on Thursday, with guns and stones, by armed government groups in Venezuela’s capitol. Rosales, Chavez’ main opposition candidate for the upcoming 3 December elections, said: “The government knows what I have said and why I have said it. People in the neighborhoods are cornered by the armed groups. People themselves say that these are government armed groups.”
